Learn how assets work and how they're managed from within the asset catalog.*
This article covers assets and explains how to use the asset catalog to find an existing asset and view its details.
Topics covered here:
What are assets?
Assets are your catalog of entertainment and sports content, both video and non-video:
|Entertainment assets||Sports assets|
Every asset consists of metadata - including images - offers, and, where relevant, an internal reference to a video file. See our asset metadata article for a breakdown of metadata fields by asset type.
Assets follow a workflow from the point of ingestion, which includes the process of acquiring offers. Offers allow users to interact with playable content.
Learn more about the ingestion process and the setup of deals, plans, offers, and entitlements in our section on rules.
Note: Assets are often referred to as items in the API - these two terms are interchangeable.
The asset catalog
The asset catalog is where you can find all your ingested assets. To view it, navigate to the Assets menu, then select Items.
Ingested assets are presented in a table, as shown below. Click on the table headers to sort your catalog by Title, Type, Date Modified, or Date Created.
How do I filter assets?
You're likely to have a lot of assets in your catalog, which is why Presentation Manager provides an extensive search functionality:
- If you know exactly what you're looking for, find an asset by typing the title or ID into the search field.
- To filter the catalog and narrow down your search:
- Click the link to display further search fields. Search by type, subtype, genre, keyword, category, distributor, deal, or status.
- To hide, click the link.
- Any assets matching the search criteria are displayed in the table below.
We've put together a separate asset catalog article that covers the process of searching and filtering in more detail.
How do I view asset information?
Select an asset thumbnail or title from within the asset catalog to open the asset's detail page. The left-hand navigation menu allows you to view or edit asset metadata, scheduling, images, themes, offers, and related asset information.
The example below shows you the elements you'll see at the top of the asset's detail page:
|Key||Control||What it means|
|Asset thumbnail||The image ingested with the asset. The aspect ratio varies with the asset type.|
|Asset title||The name of the asset.|
|Asset type||Indicated by an icon, e.g., MV for Movie, CP for Competition.|
|Asset ID||A unique ID in Presentation Manager, useful for searching.|
|Distributor||The studio or source of the asset.|
|Deal||License terms under which the asset is offerable.|
|Status||The flag is dependent on whether the offer set at ingestion is approved and active. The status can be validated and offered directly within Presentation Manager.|
|Pre-approved flag||If set, the workflow automatically publishes to the apps.|
|Last modified date and user||The last edited information is displayed here.|
