What’s new
New Team and Persona asset types
Introducing two new asset types; Teams (sports-specific) and Personas (supports both Sports and Entertainment purposes). Read on below for more information on how they're supported.
New Team and Persona hero rows
We've added new row types supporting the Follow functionality and surfacing additional metadata for Teams and Persona assets, including the sport, country, and image/logo.
New item detail pages
To support the features below, we've put together a cheat sheet to help you create a sports item detail page.
Team Item detail page
The new Team detail page is designed to support various row types, including the new Team hero SHT1 row that enables users to follow Team assets, and surface related sports metadata such as Competitions, Rounds, and Stages. The page body can support live and upcoming events related to the team.
The Team details page supports OOTB analytics for user behavior tracking and Right-to-Left languages. For more information, read our Team detail page article.
SHT1 (16:9) Team hero row:
Asset key metadata is left-aligned over a wallpaper (16:9), displaying the following:
- Team's name (title)
- Short description (not supported on mobile)
- Badge
- Team logo, either:
Inset (inside image bounding box) | Outset (outside image bounding box) |
![]() |
![]() |
Note: The Tagline is sent in the API, this requires a project customization to display in the UI.
Reference App functionality:
- Follow the team by selecting the Follow icon (signed-in users only)
- View team metadata including the sport and country. If metadata exceeds one line, expand using the ellipsis icon.
For more information, read our pages and supported row types article.
Persona Item detail page
The new Persona detail page is designed for both Sports and Entertainment purposes. For Sports, Personas typically represent Athletes, and for Entertainment, Actors or Directors, etc. The new Persona hero SHP1 row enables users to follow Persona assets and surface related metadata.
For Sports, this page supports the ability to display live and upcoming events related to the persona, surface related sports metadata such as Competitions, Rounds, Stages, and related Teams, with the ability to follow Persona assets. For Entertainment, the ability to display Movies, Shows, Episodes, or Programs relating to the Actor or Director.
The Persona details page supports OOTB analytics for user behavior tracking and Right-to-Left languages. For more information, read our Persona detail page article.

Note: The Tagline is sent in the API, this requires a project customization to display in the UI.

Sports and Entertainment personalization
Follow assets
Expanding on the two new row types mentioned above, SHT1 for Teams, and SHP1 for Personas, these rows support the ability to follow Team and Persona assets.
Signed-in users can follow assets via the icon. Selecting this icon adds the asset to the profile's Following list.
Followed assets display the icon. Selecting this icon removes the asset from the profile's Following list. Read on below about managing followed assets.
Note: The default maximum number of follows per profile is set to 50, this limit is configurable by an administrator (see AXIS 9.2 for further information). Users are informed if they reach the maximum number of follows per profile.
Manage followed assets
Signed-in users can manage their Following list of Team and Persona assets.
The Following page groups followed assets by Teams and Athletes (Personas). Assets highlighted in green are actively followed by the profile, although users have the option to deselect assets to unfollow.
Note: The Following page is available OOTB; however, for Entertainment customers, this requires some customizations.
Signed-in users can view and manage their Following list from a link within their profile menu.
Operator notes (see AXIS 9.2):
- Operators can configure list rules based on user following preferences to surface targeted content.
Search
The search functionality now includes the new sport asset types, each with a dedicated row: Confederations, Competition, Events, Stages, Teams. Persona assets are returned within the People group of results.
Search result grouping
With the addition of sports assets, we're supporting a pre-defined set of asset subtypes:
- Highlights
- Interview
- Documentary
- News
- Best moments
- Replay
- Preview
- Reactions
- Throwback
If one of these pre-defined asset subtypes has been applied to an asset, the asset displays in the News and Highlights row on the search results page.
Enhanced Event metadata
We've made several improvements to the information shown for existing Sports rows, surfacing metadata including the competition, stage, and round.
Note: Stage and Competition metadata is provided via asset relations if recorded. The display of Competiton, Stage, and Round titles is not supported OOTB on native mobile apps.
Row | Metadata | Example |
---|---|---|
ST1 - Standard (16:9) |
Stage/round |
