An effective, user-friendly search page is essential to helping your users find the content they want, quickly and easily.
AXIS gives you two options for presenting search results. The default Search page has a simple, predefined layout. The Enhanced Search page offers greater configurability, giving you more control over the look and feel of the search results page. To learn how the search function itself can be configured, read our Enhanced Search article.
This article covers the Enhanced Search page and explains the options for configuring it.

What is the Enhanced Search page?
The search page template controls how search results are presented to users.
AXIS provides two search page templates, giving you a range of options for defining the layout of the search results page:
- A default Search page with a predefined layout, allowing you to get up and running with minimal effort
- An Enhanced Search page offering greater configurability and choice of rows
How do I configure the Enhanced Search page?
To set up and configure a new Enhanced Search page, start by selecting the template from the sitemap (Display → Pages → Sitemap → New Page → Enhanced Search).
Search pages are system pages, so be sure to have View system pages selected in the top right.
Populate the page metadata as you would for any other new page. Read more about the process of selecting and creating pages. When you’re done, select .
Now you’re ready to add and configure the rows for each page row region. The Enhanced Search page supports several search-specific row types, described below, as well as a number of standard row types.
For a list of all row types supported on this page, have a look at our article on pages and supported rows.
Search row types
Note: The SSB1 - Simple Search Bar, SR2 - Search results (2:3) and SRP1 – Search results (Cast and crew) are automatically added to the page when you create it. You can add to or edit these rows as needed.
Page header
- Simple Search Bar - SSB1: This is the search bar header/hero row, where users enter their search query.
Page body
The search results feed the dynamic rows mentioned below:
- Search results (Cast and Crew) - SRP1: a search results row designed to display people (personas)
- Search results rows - SR1-6: search results body rows offering 6 different aspect ratios
- Continuous scroll search results rows - SRCS1-4: continuous scroll search results body rows offering 4 different aspect ratios
Static rows display the same on every search page, regardless of what is searched for. The static rows mentioned below are typically used to promote other content or to make sure something is displayed in the case of no matching search results:
- P1
- P2
- T1
- T2
- T3
- ED1
- ED2
- TX1
- PR1
- ED4
- ED5
See examples of these rows in our search rows article.
Configuring the body rows
Once you’ve added them to your page, you can configure the SR and SRCS body rows to display specific asset types. (SRP1 is pre-configured to display people).
Clicking on the Any Asset Type dropdown allows you to select one or more asset types matching the user’s search to be displayed in the row.
As you make your selections, the row preview displays the options you’ve defined, as shown below.
In addition to asset types, you can filter on Device, User group, Segmentation tag, and Date in the same way as for other page rows. Read our article for more information about rows and how to customize them.
Some sample page scenarios
The following scenarios outline some of the ways you can configure the page.
Scenario 1: Entertainment and sport asset types
In the first image from Presentation Manager, two SR1 rows have been added to the page body. The first row, labelled ‘Entertainment’, is configured to display any movie and TV show assets returned in the search, while the second row, ‘Sport’, will display confederation and competition assets.
The second image shows you how the search results would appear in the desktop web app: two horizontal rows of assets of the specified type, with a 2:3 aspect ratio.
Scenario 2: All asset types
In the second scenario, a single SRCS1 row labelled ‘Everything’ has been configured to display all asset types returned in the search.
SRCS rows are best used as the only row type on your search results page. If other search results are displayed in rows beneath the SRCS row, there's a chance that users may not see them.
You can see the search results page in the app, with a continuously scrolling row of 2:3 assets of all types: movie, competition, tv show, etc.
